Description: This session will focus on common mental health concerns in the Down syndrome population, specifically obsessive/compulsive behaviors. We will learn how to determine if the behaviors are helpful or hurtful to the individual, and brainstorm ways to manage and/or minimize the behaviors. We will also discuss when obsessive-compulsive behaviors warrant further evaluation and what diagnoses these behaviors could be a symptom of. If your family member seems to get stuck on certain topics, obsesses over certain people or activities, stresses over keeping things the same, or has had an increase in obsessive-compulsive thoughts and behaviors…this session is for you!
