NTG – Early Detection Screen for Dementia (NTG-EDSD)
March 1, 2024

The National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices (NTG) developed a dementia and Alzheimer’s disease tool called the NTG – Early Detection Screen for Dementia (NTG-EDSD).
The Quick Guide for Families states:
“The EDSD is an easy-to-use checklist to record suspected behavioral changes and differences observed in a family member with an intellectual disability. The information gathered can be used as a baseline and/or to track changes as the individual ages. This information can be shared with doctors and other professionals to help determine if the changes are something about which to be concerned.”
Additional information and links to download the screening tool in several languages (Spanish, French, German, Italian, and others) can be found on the NTG-EDSD page of the NTG website.
