Research shows that about 5% of adults with Down syndrome have access to specialty Down syndrome healthcare clinics. As a result, most adults rely on PCPs who may have had limited opportunities to receive condition-specific training. CARE Down Syndrome was created to bridge this gap through:

  • An accredited eLearning course offering continuing medical education credit for clinicians,
  • Peer-reviewed, accredited clinical reference articles summarizing current evidence and best practices, and
  • A library of practical clinical tools and resources designed for use in everyday practice.

All course materials and clinical reference articles have been reviewed and endorsed by the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group-USA (DSMIG-USA) and the American Academy of Developmental Medicine & Dentistry (AADMD).

Brian Chicoine, MD (lead author and reviewer), Hannah Graham, MD (author and reviewer), and Katie Frank, PhD, OTR/L (author), from the Adult Down Syndrome Center, contributed to the development of CARE Down Syndrome.
