Description: Some health conditions such as thyroid disorders and sleep apnea are more common in people with Down syndrome compared to people without Down syndrome. Other conditions such as solid tumor cancers and high blood pressure are less common. In this webinar, Brian Chicoine, MD, describes differences in the prevalence of health conditions in adolescents and adults with Down syndrome compared to those without Down syndrome. He discusses how these differences may affect health promotion and health care of people with Down syndrome. He also provides suggestions for supporting individuals with Down syndrome in receiving high-quality care.
